Independent Lens

The issues, through

the people living them.

/ About the project

Independent Lens is a modern documentary series on PBS. “Our documentaries honor individuals whose determination in the face of challenge reflects major issues impacting our nation and our world,” says executive producer Lois Vossen. The project translates the program's film lineup into a compact two-color print system: a 22 × 33-inch poster and a 12-page French-fold brochure.

Brochure

To reduce ink costs and improve usability, the two-color design functions as both a poster and a 12-page French-fold brochure. The content follows a linear, chronological path from left to right and top to bottom. The condensed title becomes the cover in the top left, while the week-by-week schedule closes the brochure in the bottom right.

Figma components shaped the workflow. I designed the brochure and poster simultaneously, keeping both layouts visible side by side so the folded object and the full poster could stay aligned as one system.
